Congratulations to Ania, Emil, Arie, Katie, Aaron, Carlos, Genevieve, and Steve at the Holiday Dance Classic this past weekend! They danced very well and we had such a blast! Allison began her love of dance, especially tap and jazz, at the age of 3 when she attended dance classes with her four older siblings in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Allison was born and raised in Canada where she earned her degree in political science at Saint Mary’s University in Nova Scotia. You can read more our Allison on our Bios page!

Winter Ball and Showcase a Huge Success!

Thank you for everyone who has joined us at the Winter Ball and Showcase making it a wonderful event! The student and professional performances were incredible, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was energetic. A BIG thank you to the teachers, staff, and friends for the big hand helping out with the preparations and clean up.

Welcome Kendra Boc!

Please welcome Kendra Boc, our latest addition to our Extreme Dancesport family!

Kendra, a Boston area native, began dancing at the age of 3. Growing up she has trained in the styles of ballet, pointe, tap and jazz, as well as performed in a few different productions of The Nutcracker. She attended college at Oklahoma City University, where she was a Dance Management Major and received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in May of 2007. While away at school, Kendra was a part of the American Spirit Dance Company and Spirit of Grace Liturgical Dance Company. She has also, taught ballet at a few local studios. As you can see, she is no stranger to dance, but is a newcomer to ballroom and is very excited to learn about the style and be a part of this studio.

Kendra is our Extreme admin/receptionist who'll greet you at the front desk with a big smile and a warm welcome. Stop by the studio and say "hi". You can read her bio here!

Due to the long holidays in December, we are offering 3-week series classes instead of the our normal 4-week. You get the same quality dance instruction but shortened to only 3-weeks. The price is less as well!

Congratulation Competitors!

Congratulations to all our dance competitors for job well done this past weekend at Hotlanta! The competition was tough but we held strong in many of the categories. Many competitors had to dance at the higher levels but that didn't stop them from owning the dance floor!

Elizabeth Townsley had to move up quite a few levels from Preliminary Bronze to Open Bronze to have competition in her heats. That's a huge jump! Not only that, this was her first competition ever but she shined like a star. She looked nervous at first dance but after that, her confidence built up quickly and commanded the floor with style. A job well done!

Elizabeth Parson also had to move up from Preliminary Silver to Open Silver. The competition was tough with Silver veterans but she danced very well. She should've placed much higher but the judges didn't see what we saw. Quality dancing!

Lana Kredenser danced her best that we've seen in a very competitive category in the Intermediate Bronze events. With more practice and being more in sync with the music, she will be a force to be reckon with.

Laura Giannitrapanni danced very well in the Intermediate Bronze with a lot of competition and danced the best we've seen her dance so far. With a little adjustment with timing, she will improve dramatically.

Edward Simone danced the Full Bronze with Helle and did amateur with Elizabeth Lambert. He danced very well with all of his screaming fans (us) cheering him on. He had a very tough competition but he dance the best we've seen him. With more practice and determination, he'll move up to the levels with ease.

Elizabeth Lambert had probably the toughest heats in the competition but she was very strong with her dancing. Strong enough to get 3rd place in her single dances and semi-finals in the super competitive scholarship event. She is definitely voted the most improved!

Ania Lukas also had to be moved up from Full Gold to Open Gold. Despite all the other couples were doing open choreography, she fared well in the single dances but she won in the scholarship! This just goes to show you that it's not all about the choreography!

Steve Yi had a great start by winning the single dances in the Open Gold but in the evening he place 3rd in both the scholarship and East Meets West event. A little disappointing but nevertheless, a great accomplishment with the competition involved.

All in all, what a great competition. Everyone improved so much and danced like a champ! We all had a wonderful time before and after the events. We are now very familiar with the bar menu at the lobby hotel. After the event, some of us went to the Salsa party and some just crashed from all the dancing! Stay tuned for our next competition at the Commonwealth Classic in Lowell, MA held on November 4,5!

Dance Camp This Weekend!

We're taking registration for our next local ballroom dance competition, The Commonwealth Classic held in Lowell, MA! This is a great, small competition for beginners who wants to get their feet wet in the wonderful world of competing ballroom and latin dancing! Even for the advanced dancers, it's a great warm-up for the bigger competitions. Our deadline for the entries is Wednesday, October 10 2007. Latin Competitor Practice!

We are now holding latin competitor practice on Wednesdays 9pm-10:15pm starting August 8! What's this? This is an International Latin-only competitor practice session designed specifically for dancesport competitors in the latin style to fully utilize their practice time in an intense, competitive environment. The goal is to simulate real competition forcing competitors to focus and practice hard for 90 minutes and drive themselves to the max in preparation for the real thing. This practice is open to the general public.

Music will be controlled by the supervisor and will follow strict order of dances played. For the first 60 minutes, each of the 5 dances will be played 3 times in a row with each song at 3 minutes in length. The last 30 minutes will be 3 intense practice rounds with each dance played for 2 minutes.

There will be absolutely no music requests, no breaks, and no nonsense during this time. Lights will be dimmed for the ultimate practice atmosphere. We recommend participants to come at least 15 minutes earlier to start time to take care of payment and change.

Day: Wednesdays
Time: 9:00pm-10:15pm
Price: $5 per person (free for practice members)

Extreme Performs at Novartis

Steve and Helle performed an amazing Rumba and ChaCha at the pharmaceutical giant, Novartis in Cambridge. Every month, Novaritis holds a function in the main lobby area based on theme organized by different department groups. The theme for this one was.. you guessed it, ChaCha. This was headed by our very own student who works at Novartis, Venette Jean-Pierre. Helle taught an excellent ChaCha group class right after the performance. The men were a bit out numbered by the women in the class but nevertheless, everyone did well leaning the ChaCha. Thank you Venette for the wonderful event!

Extreme Dancesport has a new look. The Web 2.0 look. It's cleaner, easier to navigate, and more robust than our previous website. We loved our old website but it looked just that. Old. We hope you like it. A big thank you to Rose who helped out with the graphics, Brittany who did our quality assurance testing, and the rest of the staff correcting the spelling and grammar mistakes. Extreme Performs at the South Shore Conservatory

Extreme Dancesport did a spectacular performance at the South Shore Conservatory Festival in Hingham, MA. Erin and Leon performed a cheeky ChaCha while Steve and Helle performed a sensual Rumba in front of an enthusiastic crowd. A group class was then held for the audience right afterwards. The dancers, then became the background dancers for the featured band on stage. A few random photos were taken. You can view them on our Photos page.

Congratulations to Ania, Cindy, Katie, Aaron, Carlos, Genevieve, and Steve on a job well done at the Manhattan Dancesport Championship! Ania placed first in the Gold Scholarship, Cindy placed first to third in the Silver single dances, Steve got 5th in the Open Scholarship. Carlos and Gen made it passed a very tough first round while Aaron and Katie danced hard in the same round. See them in action on the Photos page (thursday only)!
